Summer Arts and Antiques Auction Planned

Save the date—Saturday, July 9th.  On that day the second Arts and Antiques Auction will take place on the grounds of the Nathaniel Winsor, Jr. House.  Two years ago the event debuted in order to raise funds for the Acquisitions Fund of the Collections Committee.

This year’s event, chaired by Bob Hale, will help fund the creation of the Society’s new archival facility in the Wright Building.  We anticipate that over 200 people will come and raise their paddles to help create a state-of-the-art location where Duxbury’s historic documents can be preserved and utilized.

Enthusiasm is growing over the planning of the event.  A gourmet picnic dinner will be enjoyed as attendees preview the elegant items that we anticipate auctioning.  Already we have received a number of fascinating items including a room sized hooked rug, antique brass andirons, a bureau and a number of chairs.

We hope that you will consider donating a item that you think will be an interesting addition to the live auction.  Last year nearly 200 items ranging from impressionist art, to dining sets, to Canton china were donated and helped us to raise $62,000.  Let’s once again have a memorable evening that will raise funds to help make the archival facility one that will be enjoyed for generations to come.###
