Auction Raises Funds for Wright Building Archival Facility Fall 2005
In particular, our thanks go to auctioneer Will Henry who donated his expertise not only during the auction but in advance to identify items. Also thanks to Will's team, including his wife Karel Henry, and Keilah and Ben Coon for keeping the auction running like a well conserved clock. Lyddy Hale, Frank Mangione and George and Wendy Pease worked very hard at the registration and check-out desks and did a magnificent job. Weeks before the auction took place Susie Bochard and Tina McLoughlin gathered an army of donation solicitors who collected over 150 items. They were Cindy Brockwell, Toni Brennan, Page Brown, Andrea Chase, Betty Finken, Emily Kellar, Valerie Loguidice, Hilary Lucier, Mary Ellen Rice, Andrea Rowley, Lauren Salamone, and Cynthia Spratt. The wonderful preview party and dinner was organized by Jane Ryer with the help of Lee and Jack Barlow, Judy and Howard Hall, Jane and Clark Hinkley, Marta and Ken Johnston, and Will and Pat Sheehan. Mark Johnston coordinated such logistics as the tent and equipment rental, lighting, sound, and electrical issues. Susie Caliendo personally decorated the grounds with wonderful floral arrangements and shell lights. We greatly appreciate the generous sponsorship of Boston Financial Management, Inc. Of course, our thanks to everyone who attended the event and made it such a success by generously bidding on the items. Finally, our sincerest appreciation goes to Bob Hale and Sarah Gallagher for their coordination of the whole affair. After putting our last auction together in 2003, Bob and Sarah made this one look easy. But we know better! Plans continue to move ahead for a state-of-the-art archival library in the Wright Building in which the Society will store, and make available to the public, its rare documents. The funds raised through the auction will help offset a portion of the Society’s costs for the equipment and furnishings. # |
