A New Photography Exhibit at the King Caesar House

On June 24, the Society celebrated the opening of a new exhibit at the King Caesar House.  “Timeless Beauty: Four Centuries of Architectural Detail in Duxbury” was mounted by the Exhibit Committee, consisting of Sally Redmond (chair), Barbara Kiley and Barbara Lamarche.

The exhibit has been more than a year in the planning.  Extensive research was conducted on the extant architectural styles in our town.  Photographs were taken at dozens of properties throughout Duxbury by eight photographers.  The committee culled through hundreds of photographs.

The result is an architectural survey that is both edifying and aesthetically pleasing.  As the committee wrote in their welcoming message to the exhibit, “For those who are looking for timelessness we hope you enjoy spending time wandering through the exhibit.  For those who are looking for beauty, we hope it pleases your eye.  For those who are looking to learn, we hope you find something new.  And we hope you all find familiarity in the things that make a house remarkable and respect for the stewardship of uniqueness.”

The King Caesar House is open Wed-Sun 1-4 p.m. through August and weekends 1-4 p.m. in September.#
